Some writing i did
ive been trying to write down my dreams more often however i always warp them by the time i get to sitting down in front of my laptop and thats IF i manage to avoid stardew or minecraft or discord or twitter long enough to not lose the memory of the dream.
anyway last night was of an ancient arabic pirate who learned to time travel by jumping through walls/cracks in walls/ places where the lines of reality didnt quite met up correctly. he had had a hard life and killed many people on his journeys across the oceans and seas. he also was in a sort of time loop where every time he died he was simply returned to where he died but at a different time. he suffered greatly for this as the ocean is not often a good place to "spawn in" if theres not a ship there. over his years he gathered a terrible reputation and finally when he learned to timetravel he was able to escape it all. he only could time travel a bit at a time, as the building had to remain standing from the time he entered to the time he left. however he did manage to find a path which let him travel relativly quickly through time and also aquanted him well with the residents of those places. most he learned to avoid on his first trip through , and he was greatly helped by his social anxiety however he did have afew run ins. one was a middle aged woman who had recently come into quite a lot of money and whoes luck had caused her to become somthing of a trouble maker as her days were no longer filled to occupy her mind. when she first saw him she shouted and grabbed a fire poker. but he was gone too soon, over time she grew to know him and although they were not close they had some sort of agreement between them which neither could quite explain.
This woman was the pirate timetravelers least favorite , but he also had a favorite. a beautiful man who calmed him down quickly and reassured him that although he had no idea how a huge pirate came down from his library wall he was happy enough to house him for as long as was neccecary. this mans gentle deminour was new and alluring to our poor lost man and he broke down and was comforted by the man who asked what his name was. in dispare the pirate realized that the further he traveled from his home the more he forgot and lost his memories of who he was and this put him in such despair he did not leave his room for a month. the kinda man named dominic generously took care of his new friend and read him many history book and geneaolgy books to try and find his friends name. they were never successful but the kindness drew his new friends out of his shell and he began to relax and trust dominic.
after many years dominic had company over for tea and they all sat down to read one of the thousands of books of names which dominic had collected (and i must tell you that this is not his true name for i have redacted it for his privacy). he would go to the moon he had to; he often said this. they read aloud the names in the room until they said dominics true name and another after it. the guests did not stop when they saw the distress cross the pirates face and even when dominic asked them to leave they kept reading names as if in a trance and in fear the pirate lept back through the wall and returned home for some time. he intended to come back once he had rememebered his name back home but on his journey through the walls of reality back to his beloved dominic the woman... she was tired of him hopping through the walls and she shouted at him "Ankbar dont return" for that was his name ; or at least it is the best interpretation of his name which my mind can remeber from my dream as i cannot read in my dreams. hearing his name outside of his own time twisted his stomach into a thousand knots tighter than any which could uncoil with gentleness and love. all at once the memories from his time with dominic came back and the history books which told of the dread pirate ankbar horrible deeds flooded his mind and his heart broke for he felt dominic would never love him knowing all the horrible things he had done in his life as a pirate. he fled home one final time and became a hermit and never again sailed the sea.
chapter two: the moss
there was once a great mermaid sailor. he had a wife, presumably, as he had a spunky little boy of about 5 years old who followed him everywhere. the two lived in a great big house with many alarms and security set up to ensure it was as safe to be there alone as at the sailors side. The little boy adored his father with his kind brown eyes and wrinkles which told of laughter and joy of many years. he wanted to be just like his father when he grew up. but first childhood! and what a childhood he had. he took his small boat out into the river and rowed for his hearts content. he was a strong swimmer and knew the coast line well and even the return of the tide was no surprise to this attentive little boy. all was well for him and his father for they had charms of protection.
one day his father came to him smileing a little less and the boy not knowing anything but joy and peace thought nothing of it. his father knelt down to his sonsface and handed him a pendant which sparkled with greens and browns the like of which he had only ever seen before in moss and river rocks. the boy grinned wide with his new prize. his father quickly and urgently explained that this was a life tailsmen and he needed to keep it and protect it well for there was someone coming to settle a debt with his father and if they found it with him there would be trouble. the boy agreed and nodded seriously, he swore to never lose it and pocketed it in his front pocket and buttoned it closed to be extra safe. his father smiled wide to match his son and ruffled his hair then strode away with the confidence of a lion. the boy then seriously checked all the locks on the house and protection runes and gaurding pendants to ensure total safety for him and his father. all was well. but he heard his father arguing with the visitor and he knew it was time to leave the house. he pushed his canoe into the water and made quickly for the cave which they made specifically for this time. he crouched low in the water and behind the vines and moss. he was safe. time passed and the arguing faded away. he returned to his father. and saw from a distance how tired he looked. father never looked so tired. it was time to give him back the tailsman. the boy reached into his pocket. he found nothing. and he knew at once, for he was very well aquainted with the water, where exactly he had dropped it. he raced back to the tidepool which he had had to crawl over to get to the cave and reaching down into the water right next to a sea anemone as the pendant. he turned to race to his father and splashing through the river he ran up to the house. he slammed open the door but his father was no longer there. bounding up the stairs he called for his father with no response. banging open every door he looked and looked until he realized his father was no longer there. when the tailsman had slipped from his fingers and his pocket into the tidepool the one who had been arguing with his father relaxed, smiled and stuck. his father was strong but even with half of another tailsman he could not fully withstand the blow and he had begun to die. he knew he had mere moments before death so he banished the evil spirit which had sealed his fate and jumped through the wall back to the life he swore to never return to and away from his family and son forever.
his son after months of searching found the same passage his father had taken and deterimadly followed his fathers footsteps
but when he got there all he found was an empty library with dusty shelfs and a railroad track with a thousand people marching along it. his sister from this time, was one of the last to go. she had reacently learned her own name, for this was an importatn step in self actualization and becoming an adult , for her her last name was orange square in korean. for names in this land were more often than not mere concepts rather than names as we think of them on earth.
so she had learnt her name and was pursuing her father too on that long railroad track. the boy had only a discion left to make. to stay or follow her as well
the end
